Home
I consider home not only as a physical place to live but also as an emotional structure. Home is the “foyer”, a place to gather with our loved ones around the warmth of safety, comfort and trust. But that structure is often bound by secrets or untold stories that live in it as an unspeakable presence. The idea of my installation is to physically imply the viewer into such a space, moved by these contradictions.

I used a common piece of home furniture that represents this idea of truth and comfort but marked, scratched and transformed it with my own personal family experience. The confession that can be read from furniture is very personal. I inscribed it on the surface of furniture to suggest that a house is a text which one can read.

The interactive installation Home is designed to affect all stimuli and engage the recipient to define their internal home. By discovering an apartment that is initially foreign to us, we can identify with its elements and the history that follows them. This story lies in the used and discarded items that make up the installation.

I want every visitor to have a connection with this Home, which is why the drawers are filled with house-maps drawn by everyone who visited the house. When you sit in the armchair, think about what you can't see and what makes up your home.
